“Throughout the series of paintings I have created over the years, there is one attribute that remains a common theme, my love for color. Painting is my escape from reality and it allows me to visit the things and places that I desire to be a part of my life, without the need to leave my home. I gain my knowledge and memory of these places through visiting and seeing them. Once the experiences are obtained and remembered, I begin applying paint directly to the canvas with a palette knife and its application is applied very heavy in texture and layered onto the painting. My work exudes a light-hearted quality in which soothes the environment they are placed in, while still allowing the mind to peak through the interpretation of either the obvious composition or the more abstracted approach to the works. From the spectacular to the mundane, every experience in life deserves to be remembered, and while you view my artwork, I hope to share with you the experiences I have gained.”
Lindy Wiese is a native Kansan, who shares her time residency in Kansas and New Mexico. Although her passion for art began in childhood, she actively pursued painting in recent years. She draws her inspiration from the famous impressionist Claude Monet, and more recent contemporary artists such as Gehard Richter and the late Lousia McElwain. She prefers to work with oils and a palette knife, with the use of thick application to add depth and contrast to her paintings. She loves to work with vibrant colors and plays with various color combinations to invoke brightness and enthusiasm. She enjoys painting contemporary landscapes and abstract paintings. She was awarded Honor of Merit in acrylics Student/Faculty Exhibition 2013 at the Wichita Center for the Arts. When she is not painting Lindy enjoys yoga, nature, and time spent with her family.
